Banksy’s ability to communicate bold messages by a very simple means of altering famous icons is a true inspiration to me. These two images are of particular interest within the topic of Images. The first is a clever play on the idea of original sin. Through the history of art we are used to seeing Eve taking forbidden fruit from a tree, however the simple replacement of an apple with a mac opens up whole new readings. In the second, by defacing a Monet masterpiece, Banksy provides a statement on the way we perhaps deface nature today.
