Myself and Joe ‘Lo Fi’ Smith were back at it again this afternoon between the hours of 5-7pm! Starting with some chilled hiphop and moving through the tempos. This week saw some heavyweight 12s get drawn: the B side to Breakage’s “Together” a personal favourite. Hopefully there weren’t too many technical hitches this week !!

Stumbled across the work of San Francisco photographer Ted Pushinsky over at Juxtapoz today. 415 is a breathtaking collection of photos from SF’s lesser known history. Check out more here.

I was gutted that I didn’t make it to this year’s Sonar Festival. The 2010 line up saw the likes of Flying Lotus and Joy Orbison taking to the stage, performing their individual takes on the contemporary electronica movement. The backdrop short film to the festival was provided by Shaun Bloodworth, the man behind Rinse FM’s iconic, gritty, urban photography, with the soundtrack provided by Grievous Angel, who was responsible for a classic 2step sunday mix. Mesmerizing new video! MmmHmm is taken from Flying Lotus’ current album Cosmogramma, a collection of psychedelic beat sequences and warped synth work. Arguably his finest and mot experimental work to date. Check it out!

Jorge Artola is a graphic designer specialising in art direction and motion graphics. Trawling through some old bookmarks I found his truly inspirational showreel. It speaks for itself!

Since first hearing them play local Bournemouth nights (Drumfunk @ Dusk Till Dawn), I’ve been blown away by the duo’s refreshing take on Drum and Bass. UM’s dark, dirty, yet funky wobbling bass lines and analogue inspired percussion have made them a Dj’s favourite with the likes of Zero T bigging up the pair recently on Bailey’s BBC show!

Over at http://8bitcity.com/, Brett Camper has developed an ingenious 8 bit/ adventure game/ Legend of Zelda style map-making browser application. Mashing together cartographic reference points from OpenStreetMap with some nifty coding, 8bitcity generates an excitingly explore-able tiled landscape.
