In connection with the Images topic I thought I would reflect on the top 5 most memorable gaming covers of my childhood.
Number 5: Final Fantasy VIII
After the wake of FFVII, this was one of the most anticipated games of my youth and love it or hate it (I personally loved it) this FF cover is particularly memorable
Number 4: Street Fighter II
My favourite SNES game. When I think of the series, this image always springs to mind.
Number 3: Ico
One of the most innovative games I’ve played. No health bar, limited weapon selection and one objective: protect the princess
Number 2: MGS2
Raiden issues aside, this game took the series’ most iconic aspects and brought them to the (then) next gen. One of the few gaming covers to utilise texture. With the metallic title and see trough case it’s one of my favourite titles on the shelf
Number 1: Zelda
Probably one of my first encounters with Interactive Media and one of my first memories. Like the game, the cover’s beauty was in its simplicity.
